The Development History of Little Brothers of Congregation of St. John the Baptist in Canada
Toronto Chinese Martyrs Catholic Church
In 2007, recommended by Father James Wan, the Archdiocese of Toronto invited the Little Brothers of congregation of St. John the Baptist to serve at the Church of the Chinese Martyrs Catholic church in Toronto. Thomas Collins, Archbishop of the Diocese of Toronto, discussed specific matters with Father Stanislaus Su, the deputy of the Little Brothers congregation. At that time Bishop Benedictine appointed Brother Andrew to serve at the Chinese Martyrs Catholic Church. On September 5, 2007, the Archbishop of Toronto officially appointed Brother Andrew as the pastor of the Chinese Martyrs Catholic Church. In the same year, the congregation also appointed Father Joseph Ly Zhixiong to serve as an assistant pastor at the the Chinese Martyrs Catholic church to assist Brother Andrew. In 2010, Father James Wan (priest of the Diocese of Hong Kong) returned to Hong Kong and retired, and the congregation sent Father Dominic Hoang Gongyu to Chinese Martyrs Catholic church in Toronto as an assistant pastor to assist Brother Andrew. In 2012, the congregation sent Brother John to serve in Chinese Martyrs Catholic Church, as an assistant pastor in the parish. In 2014, Father Dominic Qin Ying was transferred to serve as the deputy pastor of the Chinese Martyrs Catholic church in Toronto. In the same year, Father Joseph Ly Zhixiong and Father Dominic Hoang Gongyu were dispatched to serve at St. Francis Xavier Church in Vancouver. In 2016, the congregation dispatched Father Dominic Qin Ying to serve as the pastor of Mary Help of Christians Chinese Church in Edmonton, Canada. During this period, there was Father Joseph Zeng to help out in Toronto. In 2017, the congregation appointed Father Yuan Xianyi to serve as an assistant pastor at the Chinese Martyrs Catholic church in Toronto.
The establishment of the Seminary and Congregation Blessed Home (第三會) in Toronto
In August 2013, Ms. Ye Wei Chi Rui donated a house property in Stouffville, Ontario. In December 18 of the same year, the Archdiocese of Toronto approved the Little Brothers of Congregation of St. John the Baptist to use the property as the congregation’s Beatitude House in Toronto. The Little Brothers congregation would like to express its sincere gratitude to Ms. Ye Wei Chi Rui for her generous help and support. In October 2013, Brother Andrew, established the Mingyuan Cantonese Blessed Blessing Group of the 3rd Society of the Yaohan Brotherhood (第三會鳴遠真福團) in Toronto. In the second year, the Mandarin Mingyuan Blessed Blessing Group (第三會鳴遠真福團) was also established. Thank you to all the brothers and sisters of the Mandarin and Cantonese Mingyuan Blessed Blessing Group (第三會鳴遠真福團) for helping out to manage the Mingyuan Beatitude House (鳴遠真福院).
